The photovoltaic shelter not only offers protection from the rain and the sun’s rays to parked cars, but also provides energy for the whole day transforming solar radiation into electricity.
The energy produced can be used to:
- Supply the local power grid
- Supply users located far from the power supply
- Supply of recharging points of electric cars
- Charge accumulator battery, (of stationary or automotive type).
The PV shelter for two parking places (the minimum modular element of the system) has the dimensions of about 5×5 meters, and an installed capacity, depending on type of installation, which varies from 2.9 kWp to 3.8 kWp. To improve the solar radiation efficiency and the washing effect of rain, the roof is slightly angled. Consequently, for optimal production, in the project must be taken into account its orientation. It should also avoid shadowing of nearby buildings or trees.
